Someone recently told me that “the gifts and call are irrevocable” also means that they don’t have an expiration date. In other words, just because my life currently doesn’t look like I’m really using my spiritual gifts, doesn’t mean they’re growing stale or aren’t being developed in the crucible of my career for an even more effective use later.

That’s really encouraged me in this season of ridiculous balancing/juggling. I’ve been able to better prioritize what’s critical now (marriage, kids, income) believing that a time will come when I’ll be able to move more fully into my passion (ministry, writing, speaking). And in the meantime, I see God’s grace in that I’m still able to do a fair amount of ministry within the boundaries I have.

The “boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places.”
