It’s been awhile since I’ve actively blogged (because I’ve been living life and working through some areas needing healing and development). So if you’re just joining us, here’s a little bit about me for context – I met my husband in law school (same year), got married in law school, and we moved to D.C. to have powerful legal careers. Ministry was just about the furthest thing from our minds. But God’s call was clear and unavoidable (a longer story), and 4½ years after moving here we planted a church ( At the time, both of us worked as attorneys for the government and we had 2 young kids. A year later, God told Niki to leave the practice of law (there were 15 people in our church). That was hard and courageous, but he did it! And now, 8 years later, we have 5 kids, a church, and I’m still working in the government.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been very rewarding. When it gets tough (and it does often), we continue to stick to what God has said. We’ve had to make a lot of life adjustments as our circumstances have changed in order to keep living out what He said. But one of the principles I live by is Be confident of what God has said and don’t waiver about it.
