If we move fully into what God has called us to do and really focus on training our people to become fully equipped ministers within 4 years, I’m afraid we’ll lose nearly everybody. Will we have anything to show for our efforts? What if we’re hearing God wrong and all these other churches are right? Or what if we’re hearing Him right but we fail to execute it well? It’s hard to admit this, but it seems safer, and better, to settle for “good enough” than to really go for it.
We have tried to dilute our intentionality in equipping church members for the purpose of getting them more acclimated to the idea and gradually increasing the intensity of our efforts. What I’ve noticed, though, is that we’ve all just gotten used to diluted church. And before we know it, we’ve started to look like the churches we didn’t want to be.
