There was this great ad during this year’s Superbowl, showing a kid dressed up as Darth Vader trying to use the powers of the Force to affect things in his world. No matter what he tried — the exercise equipment, a baby doll, the dog, etc. — nothing was affected. Until he tried it on his father’s car. He focused. He concentrated. He used all his might. And the car responded! The kid’s reaction his classic — utter shock. And what he doesn’t see is his dad standing inside the house, using his remote starter to make the car respond.

This video is an incredible illustration for the Christian walk with and without the Holy Spirit. [The power of God in our daily lives is the Holy Spirit (God and Jesus are in heaven; the Holy Spirit is the power of God with us)] We can dress the part. We can go through the motions. We can try our best. We can do everything right. But without the power of our Father with us, it won’t work! “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord.
