For as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so will be My word which goes forth from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, without accomplishing my desire, and succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isa. 55.

The snow does what it’s supposed to do simply by being snow. It doesn’t set out a plan for watering the earth. It doesn’t figure out how to maximize the efficiency of its coverage. It doesn’t anxiously consider how it should melt. It just is. And by simply being, it fully accomplishes God’s purposes for it.

And the same is true for me. God is showing me that I will accomplish His purposes in my life just by being me. I don’t have to spin my wheels – making a lot of holy smoke! – in order to be a good and faithful servant. I don’t have to work frantically to make Him happy. I don’t have to do, do, do to make sure I don’t miss God’s calling. I simply have to be myself. And not let fear prevent the fullness of me from being expressed.

This is how God placed the above passage on my heart. In other words, this is His word for me right now:

For as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so will you be. You will not return to me empty, without accomplishing my desire, and succeeding in the matter for which I sent you. Isa. 55.
