[This is an excerpt of a note from Dr. D]
Eventually, you discover as a leader who really wants to benefit people, we have an adversary who fights. He loses, of course, but he fights. As Paul explained, we do not fight against flesh and blood (people), but against spiritual forces. Spiritual wickedness is not full of Hollywood-type horror; rather, real evil is malign, deflating, discouraging, heart-wrenching and sour.
People make choices, but they are never our foes. And we cannot fight our true foes simply by being nice and loving to people. A staff and a sword—and knowing which to use on people and which to use on spiritual foes—these are the implements of our warfare, the tools of our trade!
